Why does the portfolio on Google matter so much?
Choosing an interior designer is a long, careful decision. Homeowners come back to the same few profiles over several weeks, looking at photos of finished rooms, reading reviews about budgets and timelines, and checking whether the studio is near enough to visit. A Google profile with recent projects and answered reviews does the job of a portfolio and a reference call at once.
Advertising is expensive, the listing is not
“Interior designer near me” is one of the costlier local searches to advertise on in India, judging by what advertisers bid for it. The map listing below the ads costs nothing to appear in. Many studios jump straight to paid leads, but a strong free listing keeps working when the ad budget is paused.
What clients write about interior designers
In the listings we checked, reviews mostly talk about the quality of work, whether the project finished on time, how clearly the designer explained choices and costs, and after-sales support when a drawer or a hinge needs fixing. When a project runs late, a calm, specific reply to the review reassures the next client more than a page of five-star ones.
Furniture stores and modular kitchen brands
Many of the most-reviewed listings in this space are furniture stores and modular kitchen showrooms. If you are a design studio, say so clearly with your category and services, so you are not mistaken for a showroom, and so homeowners who want design work find you rather than a catalogue.
Before and after, honestly
Before and after photos are the most persuasive thing a designer can show, and the easiest to get wrong. Shoot the same room from the same corner, with the client’s permission, and never show an address or anything personal in the frame.
